Appreciating a Saturday lunch at Charles Vergo’s Rendezvous Restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee — the best of the best of Memphis barbecue, I was, indeed, satisfied! Not being one to hold back my gustatory pleasure of looks, gestures, and auditory punctuations to this meal, I may have embarrassed my family a bit. But having preceded the meal with a long, description of how much I enjoy barbecue, the waiter was more than kind. I might have ordered the combination charcoal pork ribs and chopped chicken combination, but, additionally, he brought sides of beef brisket and smoked sausage. I will be forever grateful! It doesn’t get any better. More kudos to Southern hospitality.
